Elle dit : <em>\u00ab Je ne suis pas historienne, je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re l\u2019anecdote ou la l\u00e9gende \u00bb<\/em> mais elle aura l'amiti\u00e9 des historiens de la chanson, notamment Jean-Claude Klein, Serge Dillaz, Robert Br\u00e9cy qui l'enverra au \u00c9tats-Unis \u00e0 sa place en disant\u00a0<em>\u00ab elle a un avantage sur moi, elle chante ! \u00bb<\/em> et celle de Claude Duneton avec lequel elle partage aussi l'amour des mots.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>\u00ab Elle cr\u00e9a en 1976 \u201c chanson de femme \u201d, un festival itin\u00e9rant d\u2019Avignon \u00e0 Paris, de Lyon \u00e0 Bruxelles. Le succ\u00e8s est imm\u00e9diat\u00a0(r\u00e9-\u00e9dition en poche\/Points, 1981). Mais peu d\u00e9cid\u00e9e \u00e0 passer sa vie \u00e0 actualiser un dictionnaire, elle laissera ses droits de reproduction \u00e0 Louis-Jean Calvet apr\u00e8s la mort de Jean-Claude Klein. Son exposition, <em>la Chanson<\/em> <em>fran\u00e7aise par ses racines<\/em>, mont\u00e9e par Didier Pinot (Chanson vivante\/Dazibao\/Intermedia, 1987) fait le tour des Instituts fran\u00e7ais dans le monde, et elle r\u00e9sume sa propre th\u00e8se dans un article, <em>Courants de<\/em> <em>Chanson et mutations sociales, <\/em>\u00e9dit\u00e9 \u00e0 la fois aux Etats-Unis (Acts of Western Society for French History, vol.15, 1988), en Allemagne (Lendemains 57, Das chanson in Frankreich, 1990) et en France (CNED, 1996). Elle r\u00e9-\u00e9dite cet album en CD (1992) pour sa cr\u00e9ation du<em> Paradis de la Reine Sybille<\/em> (voir la rubrique \u00ab\u00a0contes musicaux\u00a0\u00bb) en y ajoutant un po\u00e8te f\u00e9ministe de l\u2019\u00e9poque, Martin Le Franc.<\/p>\n<p>Le destin de ce disque ne s\u2019arr\u00eatera pas l\u00e0. Elle y a ajout\u00e9 une partie sur un Moyen-Age trop m\u00e9connu (XII<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup>\/XIII<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup> si\u00e8cles) o\u00f9 elle fait entendre une des femmes-troubadours (B\u00e9atrice de Die) et la conteuse Marie de France, mais aussi la parole de femmes anonymes. N\u00e9s avant la R\u00e9volution sous le nom de \u00ab\u00a0soci\u00e9t\u00e9s chantantes\u00a0\u00bb dont la plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre est le Caveau, ce sont d\u2019abord des r\u00e9unions litt\u00e9raires et gastronomiques entre beaux-esprits de sexe masculin\u00a0: la plupart de nos chansons \u00e0 boire datent de cette p\u00e9riode. Apr\u00e8s la R\u00e9volution, les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s chantantes se multiplient et l\u2019on voit na\u00eetre peu \u00e0 peu la chanson d\u2019auteur, avec tout le r\u00e9alisme et la satire qui la caract\u00e9risent. La description du Paris 1800 sous la plume de <strong>Marc-Antoine D\u00e9saugiers<\/strong> a m\u00eame inspir\u00e9 Jacques Lanzmann pour Dutronc.<\/p>\n<p>La premi\u00e8re vedette reconnue de la chanson \u00e0 texte au d\u00e9but du XIX\u00e8me est <strong>Pierre-Jean de B\u00e9ranger<\/strong> qui, sous la Restauration, doit payer ses tableaux de m\u0153urs et son insolence politique de plusieurs s\u00e9jours en prison. Il acquiert une popularit\u00e9 telle que Victor Hugo lui-m\u00eame en est jaloux. Mais B\u00e9ranger \u00e9crivait encore sur des airs connus, les \u00ab\u00a0timbres\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Au milieu du si\u00e8cle appara\u00eet un formidable auteur-compositeur \u00e0 part enti\u00e8re, <strong>Gustave Nadaud<\/strong>, f\u00e9ministe et pacifiste, inconnu de nos jours \u00e0 part des rares initi\u00e9s qui l\u2019ont chant\u00e9 (Georges Brassens, Julos Beaucarne, Gilles Elbaz). C\u2019est un bourgeois qui ne s\u2019est pas engag\u00e9 dans les luttes sociales et que les historiens n\u00e9gligent. Entre-temps naissent les goguettes, variante populaire et ouvri\u00e8re des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s chantantes\u00a0: dans cette \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9cole du peuple\u00a0\u00bb on met aussi en chansons les th\u00e9ories socialistes. Les goguettes seront interdites apr\u00e8s la r\u00e9volution de 48, mais leur esprit rena\u00eet sous la Commune (1871) et autour de son souvenir. D\u2019autres comme <strong>Jules Jouy<\/strong> ou <strong>Xanrof <\/strong>mettent leur plume corrosive au service d\u2019Yvette Guilbert dont la fa\u00e7on de mettre le texte en valeur fera \u00e9cole jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Juliette Gr\u00e9co. Dans le m\u00e9tier de la chanson, les femmes ont toujours eu le r\u00f4le d\u2019interpr\u00e8tes. Yvette Guilbert, \u00e0 la fin du XIX\u00e8me, a bien donn\u00e9 ses lettres de noblesse au genre \u00ab\u00a0diseuse\u00a0\u00bb mais elle-m\u00eame n\u2019\u00e9crivait pas ses chansons. Or, des auteures et des compositrices, il y en avait depuis la naissance de cet art populaire, signataires le plus souvent anonymes dans les veill\u00e9es paysannes comme dans les salons priv\u00e9s, ou plus rarement les cabarets\u00a0(il fallait d\u2019abord qu\u2019elles y soient admises\u00a0!).<\/p>\n<p>Chantal Grimm a voulu donner une \u00ab\u00a0suite\u00a0\u00bb \u00e0 ses Ballades des belles rebelles, en sautant deux si\u00e8cles.<\/p>\n<p>On se situe donc au XIX\u00e8me, et l\u2019histoire de ces artisanes de la chanson (car ce sont les premi\u00e8res \u00e0 l\u2019\u00eatre) se d\u00e9roule en sc\u00e8ne, chacune venant y raconter l\u2019essentiel de sa vie et chanter une ou deux de ses \u0153uvres. On apprend ainsi que <strong>Marceline Desbordes-Valmore<\/strong> \u00e9tait com\u00e9dienne et chanteuse et n\u2019avait jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole, alors que ses vers inspirent encore aujourd\u2019hui un Julien Clerc, un Pascal Obispo ou une V\u00e9ronique Pestel et sont en bonne place dans les anthologies.\u00a0<strong>Elisa Fleury<\/strong>, brodeuse et po\u00e9tesse, fut une des figures des goguettes chantantes ouvri\u00e8res, et <strong>Lo\u00efsa Puget<\/strong>, compositrice de romances de salon, un mod\u00e8le imit\u00e9 par les jeunes filles de son \u00e9poque.\u00a0<strong>C\u00e9leste Mogador<\/strong>, chanteuse-polkeuse dans les bals populaires, \u00e9pous\u00e9e par un amant \u00e0 particule, devint femme de lettres et directrice de th\u00e9\u00e2tres et participa \u00e0 la Commune. <strong>Louise Michel<\/strong> \u00e9crivait paroles et musique depuis l\u2019enfance, ce qui la soutint dans sa condamnation et son exil. <strong>Augusta Holm\u00e8s<\/strong>, librettiste et compositrice compar\u00e9e \u00e0 Wagner, fut stopp\u00e9e dans son ambition lytique par la misogynie des institutions. <strong>Marie Krysinska<\/strong>, po\u00e9tesse et pianiste au Chat Noir de Montmartre, prenait le risque d\u2019\u00eatre fich\u00e9e comme prostitu\u00e9e chaque fois qu\u2019elle s\u2019y rendait \u00e0 pied.
